Jackie Hill Perry

For the Month of March we want to highlight other than Mrs. Jackie Hill Perry. Jackie is an amazing poet, rapper, author and preacher. She’s married to an outstanding poet in his own right, Preston Perry and together they have two beautiful baby girls.

What I personally love about her is her sincere heart for the things of Christ and her unwillingness to dumb it down for the sake of gaining “popularity”. Every time I consumes a piece of content her and husband Preston create, it makes me proud to see young, black people so knowledgeable and on fire for the things of God. They inspire me to be a better student of the Word.

She is bold. She does not shy away from difficult conversations about sexuality in the context of the biblical worldview. So much so that she wrote a book on her own personal experiences on the subject, “Gay Girl. Good God”.

Jackie Hill Perry uses her life and many gifts to express the love that Christ has for us. She is a great example for what it looks like to be a creative who doesn’t compromise the quality of her art to fit a man made “Christian” mold, not does she compromise Christ in an attempt to reach more people, or “crossover”. She inspires me personally to be the best I can be in both areas.
